Casa Navarro State Historical Park
Operated by the San Antonio Conservation Society Foundation since 1975, the Casa Navarro State Historical Park is hidden on less than an acre of land in downtown San Antonio.
Once the home of Jose Antonio Navarro, the three structures, made of limestone, caliche block and adobe, were built in 1848.
Jose Antonio Navarro, a lawyer, was one of only two native Texan signers of the 1836 Texas Declaration of Independence. He was also a member of the Texas legislatures under Mexico, the Republic of Texas, and the State of Texas. In addition, he was credited with defending the rights of the people and for contributing influential writings about Texas during the 1800s.
Group rates are available. The park is located at
228 S. Laredo Street and can be reached at
(210) 226-4801.
