The Steves Homestead

Yet another beautiful home located in the King William district, the Steves Homestead Museum is a three-story structure that was built in Victorian French Second Empire design. Edward Steves, founder of Steves Lumber Company, built the home in 1876. The home is now open to the public, and is a showcase of 19th-century furnishings.

The grounds include the River House, a one-story building that housed the first indoor swimming pool in San Antonio. The building is now used as a meeting room. The servant’s quarters is a facility now used to house a visitor’s center, and the Carriage House, which was used for storage.

The Steves Homestead Museum is located at 509 King William.  For more information, call (210) 224-6163, or visit www.saconservation.org
