The Witte Museum

Founded in 1926, the Witte Museum is a museum of natural and local history and science, designed to interest people of all ages. Among its many attractions are history and science exhibits, major national traveling exhibits, family events, live gallery theater and a gift shop with educational material.

The museum’s permanent exhibits include displays about Texas ecology, ancient Texans, Texas rocks, dinosaurs, mummies and handmade Texas furniture from the first colonists.

Among the Witte’s most popular displays is the HEB Science Treehouse, which is a four-level, 15,000 square foot facility that is located on the San Antonio River. Its attractions are for all ages, and are designed to be hands-on and interactive, some of which are outdoors and along the San Antonio River.

The museum also has a simulator, which offers a variety of experiences, from exploring outer space to the deep innards of the sea.
